Hi, At 4:35 PM today, I went to the kitchen sink to put something away, and the gorgeous immature Cooper's hawk was perched on my deck rail not 15 feet in front of my face. It was just above the water supply, so it may have been there for a drink. I think it has been making an inroad into my junco supply as I have found two clumps of junco feathers in the last week or so. One was on the deck and the other was down on the ground behind the carport (under the deck). I won't swear that "Immy" is the culprit as there are a few neighborhood cats that hang around once in a while. I also found a dead mouse on the deck where I put bird seed. It had marks on it which could have been either claws or teeth. Apparently, whatever caught it was frightened away by something. I found the mouse one morning, so it may have been caught at night by one of the owls that have been "whooing" around here at nights. It is nice having "Immy" Cooper around. Hope it lets me watch it grow into maturity so I can observe the changes in the plumage as it occurs. This sighting occurred at my home approximately four blocks east of the old Cleece's Ferry ramp & boat landing in Charlotte Park, West Nashville. Cheers & prayers for great birding in 2004, Dee Thompson Nashville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
