[TN-Bird] ID needed Holston

I photographed this sparrow today, Thursday, at Weir Dam, South Holston, 
Tennessee. Putting an ID on the bird should be easy, but every time that I 
think I know what it is, I change my mind.

Can someone please tell me what it is and why?
