This morning I saw one adult and 7 immature bald eagles on Hiwassee Island in
the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge from the viewing platform at the Cherokee Removal
Memorial Park at Birchwood (Meigs County). Later in the morning there were a
few dozen sandhill cranes in the slough near the gazebo at HWR. The overall
number of sandhill cranes and ducks has increased considerably from Saturday,
November 14. Late today I observed 6 American white pelicans near Hiwassee
Island.
