[TN-Bird] Hidden Lake State Park morning hike

With the day off for Good Friday (April 2, 2010), I took a long morning
hike at Hidden Lakes State Park in Davidson Co. I was out from about 7:45 am
to 9:30 am.

On the trail along the ridge, I heard a Northern Parula (maybe more than
one, or it was moving around the area quite a bit), but never got a look at
it. On the same trail, I saw a Black-Throated Green Warbler feeding high
in the tree branches, two Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, and a Yellow-Rumped
Warbler.

I saw a Red-Shouldered Hawk - once from the top of the ridge as it crossed
over the river and the field near the parking area, and then again when I
got back to the parking area. This time it circled over the field and then
headed back to the tree line just across the river where it originated
when I saw it earlier. I've seen the pair several times this winter and early
spring and wonder if they are nesting there.

On the trail along the small creek in the woods, I saw a Brown Thrasher,
heard and saw several Rufous-Sided Towhees, and saw several White-Throated
Sparrows.

Also, numerous American Toads were in full chorus near the small lake where
the trail splits to go up the ridge or down to the main lake.
