The Hamilton County National Migration Count was held on May 12 with 16 observer finding a nice total of 141 species. Highlights included: 7 species of waterfowl: 1 Gadwall (Camp Jordan) 7 Blue-winged Teal (various locations) 1 Redhead (Dan Jacobson found at Chester Frost, new species for the count) 2 Ring-neck Ducks 2 Sora at Standifer Marsh, No Virginia Rails. 1 COMMON GALLINULE (Camp Jordan - found by Gary Brunvoll and Dennis and Gwen Harris) 11 species of shorebirds: 1 White-rumped Sandpiper (I found it at the WR Grace Pond) 3 Forster's Terns (Dan Jacobson found at Chester Frost Park) 27 species of warblers: 1 Mourning Warbler (I found it on the Hardy Trail at the Cravens House on Lookout Mountain) 1 Connecticut Warbler (I found it very close to Mourning Warbler on Hardy Trail) 1 Wilsons Warbler (Tommie Rogers found close to Connecticut on Hardy Trail) I want to thank everyone for their excellent work on this count!
