Weekend rains stirred the migration pot a little and brought some good birds to Greene County. I observed the following today (Monday, March 18): Blue-winged Teal (3 males, 1 female in Afton); American Wigeon (2 males, 1 female near Tusculum); Greater Scaup (2 males, 4 females at Kinser Park) (rare species in Greene County); Ring-necked Duck (2 females at Kinser Park); Purple Martin (3 males, 1 female in Afton); Tree Swallow (7 at various sites); Northern Rough-winged Swallow (1 at Kinser Park, 1 near Tusculum); Brown Thrasher (singing male in Chuckey); American Pipit (7 at various sites); Chipping Sparrow (3 singing males).
