[TN-Bird] Great Crested Flycatchers on the ground

I've heard Great Crested Flycatchers in my neighborhood every summer for
many years; however, I rarely get to see them. Today, as I pulled into the
driveway I stopped to watch a pair swooping low over the ground, landing,
flying up a few inches, landing again repeatedly. I turned off my car motor
and watched this for several minutes.
I wonder if the cicadas, of which I have more than my fair share, have
brought these birds down low to feed. It surely is a rare treat.
