Birders,
I have been trying to get an accurate count of all the Goldfinches in my back
yard this morning. It is at present 12 degrees and the ground is covered with
all kinds of finches! I can count 65 Goldfinches + or - 5. There are no
Pinesiskins. This was curious to me so I looked across the creek to their
favorite "hang out" tree and there they were-about 25 sitting in the sun. I
expect they will be here presently while I try to maintain the food supply.
Curiously, the Goldfinches are already changing into spring feathers. A few
are really yellow!
