Duck River Unit, TNWR Humphreys County.
There is an unusually cooperative adult Glossy Ibis present this
afternoon in pool 2 off the right side of the wildlife loop.
Habitat is good, and I am expecting the bird to use the same area
tomorrow.
Also around were a female Merlin, Sora, and 18 species of shorebirds;
Black-necked Stilt 2
American Golden Plover 1
Semipalmated Plover 105
Killdeer 2
Spotted Sandpiper 4
Solitary Sandpiper 6
Greater Yellowlegs 25
Lesser Yellowlegs 65
Stilt Sandpiper 1
Dunlin 2
Least Sandpiper 32
White-rumped Sandpiper 3
Pectoral Sandpiper 35
Semipalmated Sandpiper 4
Western Sandpiper 3
Short-billed Dowitcher 3
Long-billed Dowitcher 46
Wilson's Snipe 2
My brother Victor and I plan to be in the area tomorrow, starting at
Johnsonville State Historic Park for passerines, then checking out the
shorebirds and hopefully the Ibis a little later in the forenoon.
If anyone is in the area and wishes to have help to find these birds, let
me know.
