[TN-Bird] [Fwd: RHWO!!!! more yard birds]

My unwashed guess on jumping spiders and hummingbird feeders: good
isolation from predators (what eats jumping spiders anyway?);
custom-made, cozy spot to hide in; and the dining is mighty fine...

WOOHOO!!!! Yard bird #104 finally arrived and was well worth the wait.
I had been hoping for this one and expecting that I might get one with
all the oaks in the woods. This morning I almost dropped the binoculars
off the deck when I put them on one of my favorite birds: Red-headed
Woodpecker!! That makes a clean sweep of all 7 woodpeckers currently
occurring in TN for the yardlist.

New birds have been showing up every day this week. No warblers other
than Yellow-rump in 45-50 minutes of birding before work this morning
(that's ok though since I got the WP). Dozens of Chipping Sparrows
showed up yesterday with a few still around this morning. I've had
one or two before this spring but not in numbers like this. Got the
first Yellow-throated Warbler yesterday for the 7th warbler of the
year. Finally got the first Chimney Swift yesterday as well. A pair
of Blue-grey Gnatcatchers were acting flirty with each other this
morning
and the male was singing continuously.

The unpredictable owls are back again. We've heard Barred Owls calling
2 of the last 3 nights.

Forgot to mention it earlier but, in the "Where have you been?"
category,
we had a Purple Finch at the feeder this past weekend, our first since
November and one of the few I've heard about in Knoxville this year.

Feeder and Salvia are out but now hummers seen yet. Why do jumping
spiders like hummingbird feeders so much? There always seems to be
one on the feeder and trying to live in one overflow holes up the
bottom of my dish-type feeder. There was one there within a few
hours of my putting the feeder this spring.
