1 April 2024
Hamilton County, TN
On Sunday, March 31, 2024 I saw my first Chimney Swifts of the year; four of
them were flying over the UTC campus. Then yesterday, 1 April 2024, my graduate
students sent me a text that there was a Black-throated-green Warbler in a tree
behind the Biology building. I grabbed my binoculars and there was indeed a
male black-throated-green, and it provided us with great looks as it hung
around the same group of trees for 30 minutes. Later that afternoon, I took my
Ornithology class up to Craven's House, where we saw 2 White-eyed Vireos and
three Black-and-white Warblers. Spring migration is in full swing!
