Flight for Life
17f777c.jpg
17f77ae.jpgThis spring, a flock of 187 whooping cranes will make an =
arduous,
2,700-mile migratory journey from Texas to Canada. Unfortunately, a =
crucial
wetland resting point for these migrating flocks is drying up. The =
central
Platte River in Nebraska is flowing at just 30% of its original =
capacity, a
level that is barely able to support local wildlife, let alone the =
nearly 11
million birds that make up a spectacular migratory showcase in our =
heartland
each year.=20

support
an ambitious campaign led by National Wildlife Federation and Nebraska
Wildlife Federation to improve and conserve habitat for the crane, as =
well
as three other threatened and endangered species--the piping plover,
interior least tern and pallid sturgeon.
