Oct. 8, 2010 Yesterday in the yard, under the feeders, I saw my first of season Dark-eyed Junco. I haven't checked the archives or anything, but as I recall I had DEJU about this time last year, an early arrival judging from TN Bird posts. Also still had at least one hummingbird (ruby-throat) 10/8, that's my average late-date here. We'll see if that gets extended this year, as this has been a good year for hummers in the yard. Word may have gotten out that I switched from 1:4 to a 2:4 sugar mixture.
