Houston Lane, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, TN
5 February 2007
We found the large end of a new Mourning Dove egg shell on our lawn today,
clean, pure white, from a 19mm minor diameter egg. Bent's Life Histories shows
20 to 23 mm minor diameter, so this is a bit small, as we would expect for an
out-of-season egg. Doves nest in our trees, but this seems like an
exceptionally early date. SPRING IS COMING!
