Leslie Gibbens and I went out to Dutch Bottoms this afternoon to see if by chance there were American White Pelicans; last year six had stopped over for about a week. Sure enough, there were six there today. Also at Dutch Bottoms: 27 Green-winged teal 40+ Double-crested cormorant A pair of osprey nesting on a silo. There was also a nesting pair on the silo at 10-Islands ( we saw them from Brown's Hollow Road, the first right after leaving Rankin Bottoms); a pair on the Old Rankin Bridge; and a fourth pair of ospreys building a nest on top of the coal tipple at Rankin Bottoms.
