I went back to Ellington this morning to check on a mystery songster that
NTOS had in the large sparrow field there yesterday. Did not hear the bird
again, or see anything different. After listening to bird tapes, Jon Mann and
I
suspect that it might have been a Lincoln's Sparrow. Just don't get to hear
them very often.

A surprise flock of 25 Double-crested Cormorants flew over in formation while
I was searching for sparrows. It pays to look up once in a while. And a
lingering Blue-headed Vireo was still present.
Birds of interest:

Double-crested Cormorant 25
Turkey Vulture 1 (my first there)
Cooper's Hawk 1
Red-tailed Hawk 2
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1
Eastern Phoebe 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet 1
Brown Thrasher 1
Blue-headed Vireo 1
Tennessee Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped 20+
Indigo Bunting 2
Song Sparrow 8
Swamp Sparrow 10
White-throated Sparrow 20+
