2011 May 26 Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN 7-9:10 am mostly cloudy and cool At Radnor Lake this Thursday I walked from the west parking lot to Long Bridge and back, looking for late migrants. Best of the morning was a quiet YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER at bench 16, whose yellowish throat and breast were striking. I got only a single warbler species, a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER that came in as birds were fussing and diving at a BARRED OWL perched at Grassy Point near the deck. A lone SWAINSON'S THRUSH was singing in the woods around Cane Bridge. Two PHILADELPHIA VIREOs and a SPOTTED SANDPIPER near the dam were also a nice treat. Walter S. Davis Blvd Marsh Davidson Co. Nashville, TN 9:40-9:50am One or possibly two BANK SWALLOWs (along with several ROUGH-WINGED and BARN SWALLOWs) were seen flying over the marsh. This is the third time over the past several weeks that I've seen at least one BANK SWALLOW there, so perhaps they are nesting on the banks of the nearby Cumberland River.
