I just returned from Legends Steakhouse, Exit 70 (Almaville Road) off I-24. I heard the distinctive call of a Common Nighthawk. Saw a bird flying in the air but it was a Killdeer. The nighthawk called again and then I noticed it was not flying but sitting on top of a light pole in the parking lot of the steakhouse very close to my parked car. He continued to call and is possibly still sitting there and calling. I heard and saw the bird about 7:30 pm this evening. Are Common Nighthawks birds of schedule? Is it possible the bird may be sitting there on top of that same light pole tomorrow evening about the same time?
