No doubt many other tn-birders have enjoyed Christopher O'Bryan's postings and
may enjoy a recent e-note I received from him. I found it inspiring. With his
permission I am posting it, with a bit of the preceeding e-correspondence.
Today (January 17th) I (Chris O'Bryan) spotted two Brown Creepers on
Mcqueen Road off of Winchester Road, Crandull, Shady Valley, Johnson County,
Tennessee. This bird is a rare winter resident, no January records, according
to "Bird Study in Shady Valley, Tennessee" by John Wallace Coffey and John L.
Shumate. . . . Happy Birding!!!

Chris, I enjoy your postings. Brown Creeper is uncommon and different enough
to be an exciting find any time.
I assume from the writing style that you are fairly young. Keep up the good
work.

David,
Thank you! I am fourteen years old since May ninth last year. I have
birded for about two years now and I am also an all-round naturalist in my area
(Johnson County). My main love is herpetology (study of reptiles and
amphibians).
I volunteer as a junior naturalist (mainly in the summer) at Steele Creek
Park in Bristol Sullivan County,
Tennessee, where I lead natural history hikes and small educational snake
talks, and clean cages and feed the animal collection in the nature center.
I have observed a large number of bird species in Steele Creek Park. In
mid Spring I will be conducting field research on Apolone Spinifera Spinifera
(Eastern Spiny Softshell Turtle) in Steele Creek Park lake where I will be
studying population, basking site analysis and measurements of the turtle.
I look forward to meeting you some day!
Happy Birding!
Christopher O'Bryan
