Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 from 9:00 to 1:00, seven members of the Chattanooga
Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society birded at The Honors Course inn
Ooltewah. Although the fog was just lifting when we started and the temperature
was 32 degrees, it warmed nicely with the sun and we had a good day. A total of
46 bird species were seen or heard.
Some of the best were 1 Lesser Scaup, all three nuthatches + Brown Creeper,
the number of Field Sparrows we saw (at least 30) and we believe 4 Brewer's
Blackbirds. Our best birders felt like the female looked like a Brewers but we
did not get to see them again to make sure. After know that to look for I tried
to find them today but only saw 1 male. I have usually seen the 4 together
every day since late November but had been calling them Rusty Blackbirds.

Birders included: Harold Birch, Clyde Blum, Dee Parker, Jennifer Rydell, David
Spicer, David Stone and Ellen Whitaker
