Sixteen observers in seven parties spent 61.75 hours and 453.7 miles on Monday, January 3 to tally 80 species, 41,320 individuals. No real rarities were recorded but 2 Barn-Owls and 1 House Wren topped the list. This is one of the few Tennessee counts which continues to get good numbers of Loggerhead Shrikes. This year's total of 19 is right on the 39 year average of 19.28. Notable misses included Wild Turkey, Northern Bobwhite, and Pied-billed Grebe.
