I got wind of a possible Brown Pelican on Percy Priest Lake on Monday
afternoon.

The bird was reported from the Four Corners Marina on Hamilton Church Rd, a
couple miles south of the Hobson Pike bridge, on the west bank of the lake. At
5:20 pm, after about 10 minutes of looking around the marina, I saw the bird
flying from due north with the Hobson Pike bridge in the background (near Long
Hunter SP) towards the marina. The bird flew right by at about 10m!! The bird
was mostly in Davidson County, but flew through Rutherford County airspace when
it flew around the east side of the marina.

There is a public boat ramp next to the gated marina and the site is opposite a
public boat ramp on Stones River Rd. Delorme pg 53, D7.

Depending on the lighting conditions, possibilities of looking for the bird may
be better from the boat ramp opposite the marina. Actually seeing around the
marina isn't real easy. I would try the boat ramp opposite the marina first.

The pelican was first seen on Thursday April 9th by the fisherman/biologist
that reported it and was seen also yesterday (the 12th) by the fisherman.

Lots of Tree Swallows and Barn Swallows at the marina, plus a nice Forster's
Tern and a bunch of American Coots. A pair of Osprey made a pass of the marina
and called a couple times. Plenty of "mutt mallards" around. Lots of
hybridizing among domesticated mallards apparently.

Very good birding!
