4-28-07 Williamson Co. After birding by foot this morning on the NTOS field trip to Warner Park, I decided to bird by car late this afernoon. I wanted to try to find some "country birds", so headed south and wandered around northern Williamson Co. I was especially looking for Bobolinks, Grasshopper Sparrows and Dickcissels, and was lucky to find two out of three. There were also plenty of other colorful highlights such as orioles, tanagers and grosbeaks. A beautiful day to be out. Most sightings came from around the Del Rio Pk. area off of Old Hillsboro Rd. and Big East Fork Rd. off of Old Harding Rd. I was surprised to not see any Cliff Swallows at the bridge on Old Harding where we always get them on our spring count. all seen by car: great blue heron red-tailed hawk wild turkey chimney swift belted kingfisher great crested flycatcher eastern kingbird many eastern phoebe n. rough-winged swallow barn swallow blue-gray gnatcatcher eastern bluebird wood thrush brown thrasher red-eyed vireo white-eyed vireo warbling vireo 1 FOS yellow-breasted chat northern parula blackpoll Kentucky prothonotary Louisiana waterthrush common yellowthroat summer tanager indigo bunting many blue grosbeak 1 male FOS on Big East Fork Rd. rose-breasted grosbeak 1 bathing in the creek on Big East Fork Rd. grasshopper sparrow 1 FOS on Two rivers Lane off of Del Rio Pk. bobolink 1 FOS gorgeous male on Firefly Ct. off of Two Rivers Lane off of Del Rio Pk. eastern meadowlarks many Baltimore oriole several orchard oriole 2 Jan Shaw ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
