I heard my first BLUE-HEADED (Solitary) VIREO of the year today,
while I was working in a remote hardwood forest (on top of west Pine
Ridge) on the Oak Ridge DOE Reservation. He was singing next to me for
half an hour while I was doing field work.
Accompanying him were a mixed feeding flock including Hermit Thrush,
Downy and Pileated WPs, Yellow-rumped Warblers, juncos, titmice,
chickadees, White-breasted Nuthatches, and bluebirds.
