Hello all, Charlie and I (with Allan) went out to see the Black Neck Stilt in Louisville (Blount CO). We saw it with no problems. We believe it was a female due to the brown back with no irridesence. The back appeared even browner than the wings. I have a few ammendments to my earlier directions. DIRECTIONS: From US 129 in Maryville/Alcoa turn right on to Louisville Rd (at the Walmart). Go 9.2 miles and turn right just past the Big Al's Marathon gas station on to Ralph Phelps Rd. Go 1.8 miles through Phelps Dairy to the stop sign. At the stop turn right onto Poland Creek. The pond is about 1/4 mile from the stop sign on the right. Jean suggested parking at the old house at the stop sign and walking down. We weren't sure of the house she referred to. We found a pullout in front of a gate on the left a little beyond the pond. The Stilt when we saw it was in the far right corner of the pond. Other birds seen: Brown Thrasher huge flock of Common Grackle Killdeer Mallards kettles of Black Vultures and another of Turkey Vultures Carolina Chickadee Flicker Blue Jay Northern Cardinal Crow Solitary Sandpiper (on the pond at the corner of Ralph Phelps and Poland Cr) Belted Kingfisher (same pond as above) about 16 heron nests (same pond as above) Eastern Phoebe (same pond as above) Tracey Muise =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
