Memphis, Shelby County
At about 1:00 p.m. today, I got to see the female Black Scoter seen and
reported by Jeff Wilson at Ensley (TVA Lake) yesterday. A new state bird to
start off the year!
It took a while of scanning before I found the bird. It napped mostly, and
required being seen in profile (otherwise blends in with the scaup). When I
saw the white cheek, I knew I had the bird. Thank you, Ol' Coot!
