Bell's Bend Park Northern Davidson Co. 5/12/2010 Cyndi and I spent a quiet, but productive, afternoon at Bell's Bend. The highlights included the singing Willow Flycatcher exactly where Ed Schneider said it would be. ( At the first intersection on the left as you head toward the barn from the visitor center) Also, there were two separate, but brilliant views of Henslow's sparrows on the right hand side of the pathway that continues down to the barn. Prairie Warblers and Northern Bobwhite were actively singing practically everywhere. At least 5-6 of each species were seen and several more were heard throughout the trails. The last "fun find" was an actively singing Blue-winged Warbler along the long tree line that separates the barn from the north parking lot and entrance. Below is the e-bird generated list of this afternoon.
