Nov. 22, 2007 Ensley Bottoms Shelby Co, TN For over 6 weeks the Ensley Bald Eagles have been toting building materials. The first try, weeks ago, was up on the bluff but evidently proved unsuitable. Last week, they were seen adding to a second nest which they started on top of an old Red-tail nest that was occupied last year by a Great Horned Owl. Here the large female took to standing on the nest and arranging the material as the smaller male made deliveries. This second nest was not in a great location as it was right on the road and in plain view. Robert Gooch and I kept an eye on their progress and we could only hope for the best. Thank goodness today they had moved again to another location, a little bit better but not much, not quite as obvious as number two but still a location that could present some problems. Maybe this one will take, maybe not. Here's wishing them success in their search for a new home in the bottoms............... Good Birding !!! Jeff R.
