[TN-Bird] Bald Eagle in Memphis

Riverport Road, Memphis TN
December 31, 2006
Sunday around 4pm.
Today we saw an adult Bald Eagle trying to eat dinner at the TVA Lake ( tailing 
pond ) off of Riverport Road in Shelby County, TN. The Bald Eagle swooped 
several times at ducks in the water, then perched on a tree limb on the east 
side of the tailing pond. The Bald Eagle stayed there for about twenty minutes, 
then flew south toward the Pits. We did not see him after that.

In previous years, we had seen Bald Eagles ( plenty ) at Reelfoot Lake. And 
also some nesting in the Wapanocca WMA, just across the Mississippi River in 
Arkansas. But this adult Bald Eagle was our first for Shelby County. He was 
very large. We were stoked.
