Nashville-Davidson Co. TN 03 May 2010 The terrible rains in Nashville this weekend are over. With the sun shining and a lot of hard work we can begin getting back to normal. Not normal was my "backyard birding" this morning. In rubber boots, I circled my house with binoculars and observed an incredible number of birds flitting about in trees and bushes as well as overhead. Here's a list of what I saw and heard during a one hour period this morning: Number of species: 35 Black-crowned Night-Heron 1 (flyover) Mourning Dove 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1 Chimney Swift 6 Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 Great Crested Flycatcher 1 White-eyed Vireo 1 Red-eyed Vireo 2 Blue Jay 3 American Crow 2 Carolina Chickadee 2 Carolina Wren 1 House Wren 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1 Swainson's Thrush 2 American Robin 4 Gray Catbird 2 Northern Mockingbird 3 Brown Thrasher 2 European Starling 3 Cedar Waxwing 2 Tennessee Warbler 4 Magnolia Warbler 1 Cape May Warbler 2 Yellow-rumped Warbler 2 Palm Warbler 3 Blackpoll Warbler 2 Black-and-white Warbler 1 Scarlet Tanager 1 Eastern Towhee 1 Song Sparrow 1 Northern Cardinal 6 Common Grackle 3 Brown-headed Cowbird 3 Orchard Oriole 1 Kevin Bowden Nashville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
