I was at 7 Islands Wildlife Refuge (Knox Co.) today from 12:45 - 4:30. I got a lifer in Vesper Sparrow beside Kelly Lane just past the horse pasture. I was surprised to see 2 of them perched in a small tree and were fairly tolerant of my approach. I thought they would be more shy and low to the ground like most other sparrows. I saw my first swallows of the year as well. notables: Vesper Sparrow - 2 White-crowned Sparrow - 3 White-throated Sparrow - 3 Swamp Sparrow - 1 Field Sparrow Song Sparrow Northern Rough-winged Swallow - 1 Tree Swallow - 5+ Hermit Thrush - 2 Brown Creeper - 1 Winter Wren - 1 Eastern Meadowlark - 2 Brown Thrasher - 3 Northern Flicker - 1 Red-tailed Hawk - 2 Sharp-shinned Hawk? - 2 high American Kestrel - 1 Turkey Vulture Black Vulture Great Blue Heron - 1 Belted Kingfisher - 1 heard Wild Turkey - 1 heard Shane Williams - Knoxville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
