Here I am in the unusual position of responding to my own message. Thanks to the people who have e-mailed me saying that I shouldn't feel bad about my 197 species. Well, actually, I don't. It just means I have so many more to look forward to. I think it's great that we have birders so experienced and I've found them all to be very eager to help when given the opportunity. I've enjoyed reading the posts about county lists, etc. I just want to be sure that my response is taken in the light in which it was made -- an attempt at humor.
