I enjoyed the beautiful weather Saturday by showing two friends from Texas two
Memphis area birding areas. Although this is an in between time with winter
leaving and spring with it’s migrants soon to arrive, we managed to see some
great birds. They were pleased to see some unusual species for Texas while we
visited WC Johnson Park in Collierville and the pits of TE Maxson water
treatment lagoons. I was please d to see so many ducks and see some of the
migrants here. A big highlight were paris of Wilson’s Phalaropes and
Long-billed Dowitchers at the pits and a cooperative Winter Wren singing at
Johnson Park. Following are the eBird tallies.
