I saw a talk once where someone demonstrated stuff in photoshop and someone else did the same thing in gimp. I would like to expand on this a bit and have people ask or show how they do things on their mac/windows box and a panel shows how this is done with linux/oss. We could do this for a few minutes at the end of each meeting if people are interested, if there are no questions we could just show us using linux for a few minutes, explaining how to accomplish specific tasks.

It would just be up to the person to actually take it upon themselves. No need to track them and hark them if they do end up using windows or mac. I don't expect everyone to even attempt to do it though it would be nice. And there are those of us like me that have met the challenge twenty fold or more so it would be a bit senseless to keep up with us.Brandon Blackwell TLUG President Quoting Ted Winback <astraz123@xxxxxxxxx>:the challenge sounds like a good idea but how would we keep track of it? --- On Sun, 7/26/09, Brandon Russel Blackwell <brb023@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Brandon Russel Blackwell <brb023@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [tlug] Linux Usage/Loose meeting Schedule To: tlug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, July 26, 2009, 12:18 AMI just thought about an idea while with Sam on the phone that for one of our projects we have a use nothing but linux for a week challenge. Or at least if you have to use windows do it in a virtual machine.Or some of y'all could do like me and not use anything but linux for months and months at a time. Exclusions will include having to use windows or mac at work since you have no choice there. I would like to know people's thoughts on this idea. The loose schedule of meetings has no times except for the first one since I do not know if we will be on an every week or every other week schedule. It may change at any time and is not set in stone for the order since at this time outside of the presentations I will be doing myself I have no speakers for all the topics. And in fact I am putting my name besides the ones I will be doing for sure in case anyone wants to volunteer for the open ones.1st Meeting-Sept 15-Intro to TLUG/administrative matters -Brandon 2nd Meeting-Intro to Linux -whoever wants to redo droops' presentation from last year or make their own 3rd Meeting-virtualbox/vmware -maybe Brandon if no one volunteers 4th Meeting-Install Fest -Brandon/officers 5th Meeting-Alternatives to Proprietary Software -Brandon 6th Meeting-WINE 7th Meeting-Gaming in Linux 8th Meeting-Compiz -Adele 9th Meeting-The Command Line Brandon Blackwell TLUG President ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
