Thanks Rick. Just thought it was strange that windows reports Total paging file size as 20MB, when in reality it is 2+GB. -----Original Message----- From: Mack, Rick [mailto:RMack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 2:55 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: virutal memory errors Hi, I used to think that the only thing that produced "out of virtual memory" errors was application memory leaks. Then one of my customers rang up with a problem, thousands (well about 2300) instances of the same application. And there was the time one customer had a really neat little DOS app that sized memeory by allocating all memory and then releasing it. Ever seen NTVDM at nearly a GB? You're going to have to do a bit of research. The easiest start is with task manager, and including memory, virtual memory and memory delta in the display data. Sort on VM and you'll find your leaky application fairly quickly. Of course if it's a system process things just got more interesting. In Performance Options, my Total paging file size says 20MB. When I click on change it shows the correct values for initial and maximum size. The pagefile.sys is over 2GB and the server has 2GB of RAM. Anyone seen this? =20 Server is 2K SP3 / XP FR2 =20 ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - NetX Inc Thin Clients NetX develops embedded flexible client solutions, customized to your specifications.
