Tim,

Eiger known now as Windows Fundamentals was released almost a month a go.
It's avaible for all MS SA customers (for Windows XP). You can use your
Windows XP product key. I'm in the proces of testing it but it looks good so
far. It runs ok with 128MB of memory.

Regards,
Michel.

Hi,

We tried to go that route with one of our customers but they wanted too
much multi-media functionality on the clients and we ended up with a "Tubby"
client running Windows XP based on a micro ATX (VIA) PC. Uses a custom shell
replacement called Talisman (www.lighttek.com/talisman.htm <
http://www.lighttek.com/talisman.htm> ), and a file explorer replacement.

Tok a bit of coaxing and hair pulling to get on top of the menu system
butr it turned out to be very good. Gives a totally locked down system
that's actually quite easy to modify/maintain at about $35 a desktop for
Talisman licensing.

The end users think they've got a variant of embedded XP (patched
logon.scr) and so far have been quite happy.

I've got an automatic RIS build for the tubby client so if you're
interested I can send you the build scripts.

regards,

Rick
