That is a perfectly good scenario, but it does not give you the efficiencies of ESX server. I was describing running the VM's on ESX server and accessing them via RDP. Then you publish mstsc.exe using PS which gives you all the benefits of Presentation Server while maintaining a dedicated workstation node running on ESX. Running the VM's on PS locally is fine, but resource contention is going to be an issue IMHO..... Steve Greenberg Thin Client Computing 34522 N. Once you see how all the parts fit together, you can get a better feel for what this will ultimately look like. PS 4.0 running on Windows 2003. VMWare Workstation is running on Windows 2003. You publish a command line to VMware workstation that points to a VM image (it could be Windows XP, Linux, Windows 2003 Server, etc...) The user logs on to Web Interface, and sees what Vm or VM's they are allowed to access. If a Windows Xp vm is published, they click on that icon and run their own instance of Windows XP running on PS. Here is one example of where this fits: Many developers need access to multiple images. Now, instead of getting alot of hardware and vm images, a developer can logon from any where and have access to a wide array of images, whether they are down the hall, across town, or outsourced all over the globe. Whether they need one image or 20, the client requirements are the same. If you combine this idea with the USB virtual client keys being offered by Red Cannon, Realm Systems, Authentex, or Axalto, the only corporate asset need would be a USB to provide secure access to a wide array of images and applications. Some software companies are actually doing something similar to this now for developers in multiple locations. This concept builds on top of what people are some are doing today and takes it farther. That is one specific area that I have heard about where this concept makes alot of sense. You may think of others based on this example. I hope that explanation clears it up for you. --- "Lilley, Brian" <brian.lilley@xxxxxxxx> wrote: > ok, what exactly does 'publishing client VM's on Presentation Server', > mean? do you mean running presentation server on client OS instances > which are running on vmware? > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On > Behalf Of Barry Flanagan > Sent: 03 November 2005 17:04 > To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [THIN] Re: multi monitor support > > > > The BladeRunner project is about publishing client VM's on > Presentation Server.
