Wow... sounds like a day in the life in the desert. :) We don't have
lightning to worry about much... but those fires and the heat are a
nightmare. My server room has been overheating daily for a while now while
HVAC scrambles to try to get us a whole additional unit installed.
UGH!!!!!! It's a daily battle.

yesterday we lost the cooling towers, the A/C controls, the intercom =
system, and a good portion of the phone system after a couple of direct =
hits. However, i did not lose a single piece of network or computer =
equipment. But we have a ton of lightning protection in place for just =
such occasions.

we took five direct hits to one facility and dropped about five =

I prefer the lights off whenever I can get away with it. On the other =
hand
if you are referring to Lightning, I like it when it lights up a
thunderstorm on the horizon making for a very beautiful display, but not =
so
much when it blows out cable or our A/C or a server
