[THIN] Re: Windows 2003 and FR3

I am looking at a PE2600 with 2x Intel Pro 1000 dual port - any issues
with these? Will I have any issues with performance with 10 MS Office
users and some light providex based applications going with a dual Xeon
3.0g with 2gb ram?

Thanks=20

Justin

And this is why I never do load balancing. I always use either
EtherChannel/PaGP/802.3ad or Adapter Failover.=3D20

if you can get reliable teaming with any dell BROADCOM 1GB nics them you
=3D
=3D3D
are doing better than us...they are the biggest piece of rubbish..

in standalone setup they are fine....

in adaptive load balancing it looks like they loose a route and then =
=3D3D
nothing can go in or out, however the link stays up (not good with =
=3D3D
=3D
60-80
users on a 1655mc blade :(  _

jump on the cnsole and tracert to the gateway of the vlan and they fix =
=3D
=3D3D
themselves up again

You don't say how big a farm you're planning, but...

Test, test and test again. 2003 is good. FR3 is good. Dell 2650 servers
=3D
=3D3D
a=3D3D3D re =3D3D3DE9"!$* but just about do the job (I bear a grudge =

anything =3D3D no=3D3D3D n HP/Compaq). Combine the lot with NIC teaming =

using the
onboard Dell =3D3D NIC=3D3D3D s, and you get capacity, performance and =

reliability
problems under a =3D3D mod=3D3D3D erate load.

What are the general thoughts on the combination of Windows 2003 server
=3D
and
XP FR3 - safe for production? I am planning a new farm and was thinking
about sticking with 2000 or jumping to 2003.
