SQL is the better choice. It is much more stable than the Access = counter part. If you do use Access, you can backup the database (dsmaint backup) to = another server. If the server with the datastore dies, you have 48 = hours to bring it backup. And/or you can perform a dsmaint failover to = the server with the backup. We are going to migrate our little server farm from Metaframe 1.8 to XP=20 soon and thus we have to choose a data store for our forthcoming XP=20 environment. As our farm is quite small (currently 6 servers and it = won't=20 expand much in the future), our first thought is about using an Access=20 database. At the moment, I have only some theoretical knowledge about how it works = but no practical experience, so I'd like to ask the following questions: 1. How reliable is the Access solution for a small environment like = ours?=20 Does it work or should we prefer a SQL server solution even for our = small=20 farm? Does backup/restore of this database work reliably? 2. If I have understood it correctly, the first MF XP server being set = up=20 will host the data store. Is it possible to move this data store to = another=20 server? What if this server fails for a longer period (e.g. motherboard=20 failure)? Would it be possible to move this database to another server=20 (provided a backup exists, of course)? 3. What about the idea to put the Access database on a separate MF XP=20 server which doesn't host applications? In this case our "real" = application=20 servers could be identical. (This extra server could be license server = too) Thank you!
