Citrix Technical Support has discovered a critical issue when MetaFrame =
XP for Windows is installed on a Microsoft Windows 2000 server with the =
recently released Microsoft Service Pack 3 pre-installed.

DESCRIPTION
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
On a Microsoft Windows 2000 server with Service Pack 3, when installing =
MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2/Service Pack 2 as a clean install or =
upgrading from a previous version of MetaFrame, a critical issue arises.

This only applies when applying Windows Service Pack 3 before =
installation of MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2. The issue will not =
occur if Windows Service Pack 3 is applied after the installation of =
MetaFrame XP FR2.

The Microsoft release of Windows Service Pack 3 occurred after the =
Citrix release of MetaFrame XP FR2. Microsoft has confirmed that there =
is an issue with Windows 2000 Service Pack 3. Please refer to the =
following Citrix Knowledge Base article, CTX015294, for complete details =
and resolutions:

1. The ICA Pass Through client is not installed during MetaFrame XP FR2 =
install.
2. The Client Distribution wizard fails during MetaFrame XP FR2 install.
3. When removing MetaFrame XP FR2, a critical error occurs.

CAUSE
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
The Microsoft release of Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 occurred after the =
Citrix release of MetaFrame XP FR2. Microsoft has confirmed that there =
is an issue with Windows Service Pack 3. The problem occurs when =
launching a 16-bit application from inside a Windows Installer MSI file. =
The Citrix Pass Through Client on the MetaFrame XP FR2 install media is =
installed using a 16-bit InstallShield setup program and hence =
experiences the problem.
Solutions
Method 1 (before installation of MetaFrame XP FR2)
Microsoft is addressing this issue with a post Service Pack 3 hotfix and =
will update Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q304229 when it is =
available. When available, apply the Microsoft hotfix after installation =
of Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 and prior to installing MetaFrame XP FR2.

Method 2 (before installation of MetaFrame XP FR2)
If the Microsoft hotfix referred to in Method 1 is not yet available, =
Method 2 may be employed instead. Run the following executable to =
automatically apply a transform to the MFXP001.MSI installation file on =
the MetaFrame XP FR2 installation media. Do not use the CD autorun =
functionality upon CD insertion. Exit out of the CD autorun, and run =
this executable to properly launch the MetaFrame XP FR2 installation to =
prevent the symptoms described above.

This method should be applied only if Method 1 or 2 above were not =
followed before installing MetaFrame XP FR2. Install Citrix hotfix =
XE102W035 after installing MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2.

I am now officially on the "dislike" list for WIN2K, SP3.
Fresh WIN2K server install, install SP3, and I am trying to install =
NFUSE
from CD.
It will not autorun, "not a valid win32 application".
Not impressed.
