Not sure what others recommend....I know for us we are starting over with a completely new farm. It makes since for us because we only have about 10 servers. The plan is to pre-stage the new farm as much as possible, test all the apps, and then make a cold turkey cut over a weekend. We have a new SQL-DB, and all server hardware is the same. I'm going to pull a few servers from the farm, so we'll be down a bit on resources for a few days leading up to the cut. Then I'm going to reimage those and add them to the new farm. The old farm will still be around and ready for roll-back. To make the switch I'm simply planning to point the NFuse server to the new farm. Assuming everything goes well and the only issues we have are minor and can be worked around, after we roll-out, I'll slowly pull the rest of the servers out of the old farm, reimage them, and add them to the new...and ultimately the old farm will be completely decommissioned. I am following all of the beta excerpts from MIAB 4.0, and parts of 3.0 where they might apply to Server 2003. We're definitely running Server 2003 / SP1 patched up, and CPS4 w/ the most recent hotfix roll-up. Currently, we use a lot of print drivers in our XPe farm....this is not a practice I want to continue. I'm going to make a strong case to go completely w/ the improved UPD for printing...we'll see how successful I am. I'm planning on re-doing my entire XPEFR3 farm to CPS 4.0 what are some basic prerequisites that you guys definitely recommend ? on IIS webservers and Win2k3 SP1 Server. I am going to delve into the admin guides and course material this weekend to start the preparation.. But consider moving up to a more recent version of WI (client too if applicable in your case) if you want the glamour and glitz of workspace control, branding, session reliability, etc. Once you have the prerequisites on the web server, the WI install is cake through the ASC.. usually. :-) -Brian -Brian Tant Chief Systems Engineer The Home Depot, Inc 770.433.8211 ext11912 ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> ] On Behalf Of Gardiner, Jeffrey (MED US) Sent: Thursday, October 19, 2006 1:33 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: NFuse 1.7 w/ CPS4? Greetings: We have NFUSE 1.7 running still w/ our Metaframe XP farm. We are upgrading our farm, and need to know if we will have to upgrade NFuse as well, or can we simply point our old NFuse to the new farm? The new farm is CPS4 and is completely separate from the old. We intend to upgrade NFuse 1.7 to the latest web portal offered by Citrix, however, mgmt desires that we do this after the main farm upgrade. Thanks...
