Windows 2000 servers, workstations, and xp workstations allow users to
map to sub share folders. IE - \\server\share\sub-folder. With older
client types, NT 4.0, win98/95 you cannot map to sub folder shares to NT
based servers without doing some tricks. (you can map these types of
shares from any windows OS to netware servers via the netware client)

You can use the subst command to substitute a drive in for the user. IE
- map x: to \\server\share then subst q: to x:\fred. This makes F:\fred.
But the users will technically have 2 mappings. X: and F:

You can also, if this is a mapping you need to a home share, share the
users' home folder as a hidden share. IE - share the user folder as
'foldername$' the '$' makes the share hidden. Then you'll be able to map
in your script to q: \\server\fred$. Since the share is hidden, users
browseing through \\server in network neighborhood, won't be able to see
all the shares, even they have rights to them, but scripts will map them
no problem.=20

Subject: [THIN] Mapping issue with WTS to Win2k Servers

Hi

I have a Windows 2000 member server in a NT4 domain which Im trying to
map=20
to from a Terminal Server logon script. If I map a drive from a Windows

2000 pro or XP desktop to the Windows 2000 Server - works fine. The
exact=20
same syntax being mapped as users logon to citrix fails with a "System
Error=20
67 has occured. The network name cannot be found".

I tried mapping from the Citrix Console with the domain admin account -=20
still no luck. Not a rights issue as it works from desktops. Is there=20
anything special that needs to happen on Windows Terminal Server to
allow it=20
to map to a directory on a Windows 2000 server.

Syntax follows:

net use q: \\Server\users\Fred

Please not the user directory is not shared. The users directory is a=20
share. If I share the user directory, it works fine but we don't want
to=20
create shares for all users home drives..

Any ideas???

Thanks
