As always, Mr. Neil... you are indeed the voice of reason.  I agree, it makes
a nice split.  
I have started to use single drive partitions for os and apps.  mostly because
I am getting lazier in my old days, but also because I don't have to worry
about growing the partition sizes... and like you say, on this modern
hardware/software... does it really matter... and I also have more pressing
matters to worry about i.e. the new Aprillia RSV Mille R or the Suzuki GSXR
1000... I just don't know..

I have always installed apps on a different drive than the OS on
terminal services. Same for the pagefile.

I don't assert it makes any significant difference, just seems a good
practice thing, to me.
