Documentation

This document describes the issue(s) solved by this hotfix rollup pack and
includes installation instructions. You can find more information about
Presentation Server 4.0 in the *Presentation Server Administrator's Guide*.
Documentation, including the *Administrator's Guide,* is in the Document
Center located in the \documentation\docs directory on the Citrix
Presentation Server CD. The Document Center provides a single point of
access to the documentation and enables you to go directly to the section in
the documentation that you need. You can access the Document Center from the
product CD or install it on your servers.

If you prefer to access the guide without using the Document Center,
navigate to the component PDF files using Windows Explorer. The guide is in
an Adobe Portable Document (PDF) format file. To view, search, and print the
documentation, you need Adobe Reader 5.0.5 or later with Search. You can
download Adobe Reader for free from the Adobe Web site at
http://www.adobe.com/.

All product documentation is also available from the Citrix Web site at
http://www.citrix.com/support.
Important Note(s) about this Release

  1. *Caution*: Do not install this hotfix rollup pack on 64-bit
  operating systems.

  2. Before installing this hotfix rollup pack, you must uninstall
Hotfixes PSE400W2K3029 and PSE400R01W2K3053, if present, from Add/Remove
Programs on the Control Panel. Failing to do so may lead to system
  inconsistencies.

  3. Installing this hotfix rollup pack partially invalidates the
  following hotfixes:

  PSE400R02W2K3065, PSE400R02W2K3066, PSE400R02W2K3067, PSE400R02W2K3069

This happens because not all fixes in these hotfixes are included in
the hotfix rollup pack. Obtain or request the corresponding replacement
hotfixes for any invalidated fixes you require.

  4. See Knowledge Center article
CTX110836<http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX110836>for known
install behaviors and their workarounds.

  5. Installation Manager for Presentation Server 4.0 occasionally
reports failure to deploy hotfixes and hotfix rollup packs even if the jobs
  succeed. See Knowledge Center article
CTX110827<http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX110827>for more
information.

Issue(s) Resolved in this Release

Hotfix rollup packs are cumulative; they contain new fixes as well as fixes
released in earlier hotfix rollup packs. This readme file documents the
fixes that are new in Hotfix Rollup Pack PSE400W2K3R03. For a listing of
fixes in Hotfix Rollup Packs PSE400W2K3R01 and PSE400W2K3R02.0.1, see

CTX109307 <http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX109307>.

*Caution!* Several items in this hotfix rollup pack require you to edit the
registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee
that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be
solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Application
Isolation

  1. Installing an application packaged with Microsoft Windows Installer
in an application isolation environment might cause the server to experience
a fatal error displaying a blue screen with stop code 000000f7.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3010][#140189]

  2. When users try to add pictures in a Microsoft Office document that
is stored in the %USERPROFILE% directory and Microsoft Office is installed
in the application isolation environment, the server experiences a fatal
error, displaying a blue screen with error 0xC2.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3010][#140346]

  3. Non-Unicode applications running in an application isolation
environment may have incorrect values called by the following functions:
  GetProfileString, GetProfileSection, GetPrivateProfileString,
  GetPrivateProfileSection and GetPrivateProfileSectionNames.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3045][#151173]

  4. After applying the Japanese Hotfix Rollup Pack PSJ400W2K3R02,
certain applications published into an application isolation environment
  fail to launch.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#156449]

Client Device Issues

  1. When a scanner application is published in seamless mode, the
scanner GUI window does not appear on top of the scanner application.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3009][#138275]

  2. If users try to connect to a mapped drive, they receive the error
message "*drive*: cannot be accessed. The network path is not
available" where *drive* is the letter of the mapped drive. Users have
to log off and then log on again to connect to the mapped drive.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3006][#139480]

  3. The driver provided for Philips SpeechMike causes applications to
  fail unexpectedly.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3022][#147369]

  4. Read-only files residing on client-mapped drives sometimes cannot
  be renamed.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#152750]

  5. An application enumerating a client mapped directory might get a
successful result code even if the directory is not entirely enumerated.
This fix corrects the issue by returning the ERROR_MEDIA_CHANGED result code
when the time-out occurs. To grant the application an extended time-out,
tune CDM by setting the following registry key:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdm\Parameters
  Name: DirMediaTimeout
  Type: REG_DWORD
  Data: <time-out in seconds, default=300>

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#152850]

Content Redirection

  1. When server to client content redirection is enabled, Internet
Explorer might open on the server when opening Web addresses from Microsoft
Office applications running on the server.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3011][#136563]

  2. A Microsoft Office application, such as Outlook, might redirect
content to the client even when the server settings block this action.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3011][#146473]

  3. After Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 is installed, client side File Locking
with Client to Server Content Redirection might fail to lock files.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#151526]

  4. Clicking a UNC path in Microsoft Office applications and Becky!
Internet Mail launches Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer
  simultaneously.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#151827]

  5. After applying Hotfix Rollup Pack 2, Microsoft Outlook cannot
properly resolve URLs enclosed in quotation marks, such as "
www.citrix.com." Instead, the quotation marks are interpreted as %22,
resulting in an irresolvable URL that reads
  http://%22www.citrix.com%22.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#152783]

  6. After upgrading from MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2 to later
versions of Presentation Server, disabling and then enabling server to
client content redirection might cause the content to only be launched on
the server running Presentation Server and not redirected to the client
  device.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3011][#153288]

IMA Service

  1. When running the *dsmaint patchindex* command, the data store class
schema is updated and indexes are created in the index table. The class
schema change is polled by the local host cache (LHC) and updated in the
LHC. If the data store is SQL Server, only the index table and data table
are changed, while the keytable record is not changed. The data table and
index table are not polled into the LHC because polling is based on the
keytable changing which it does not do.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3014][#133648]

  2. The IMA Service might terminate unexpectedly after running the
  dsmaint /compactdb command.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#134356]

  3. If there is a change to a Windows or SQL user account that is used
by the IMA Service to access the datastore, the IMA Service might not start
when the owner of a stored procedure has a different name than the database
owner. This issue occurs after a change to the security, account, server
and/or permissions used by IMA to access the database.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3014][#135986, 144982]

  4. The XML Service fails unexpectedly after editing the
CtxSta.conffile and saving the file in ASCII format.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3026][#141853]

  5. Duplicate file type associations (FTAs) cannot be removed from the
data store in the Console. To remove the FTA, at the command prompt, run
DSCheck / FULL FTA /? for help and use one of the displayed options.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3025][#142457]

  6. The user name field for active sessions in the Console might be
blank or show incorrect user names.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#144564]

  7. Scheduled server restarts revert the value of ICAThinWireFlags to
  0x63.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3060][#146714]

  8. If computers running Presentation Server Version 4.0 join a farm
that has computers running Presentation Server Version 4.5, the
earlier version of Presentation Server overwrites the event and Custom
Administrator capability lists of Version 4.5.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3027][#147257]

  9. The command *dsmaint migrate* might fail to migrate records if
there are bad records in the source data store. If you have a corrupt data
store, you can try to migrate the data store using the command *dsmaint
/debug* or *dsmaint /ignorerrors*. Before running these commands,
Citrix recommends cleaning up the data store using best practices.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#147924]

  10. After adding a Citrix administrator account, the IMA Service fails
  unexpectedly.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3042][#149283]

  11. On occasion, the IMA Service fails to start when the server
  restarts.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#154617]

  12. After installing Hotfix Rollup Pack 2, the IMA Service might take
a longer time than usual to start.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#158104]

Installation Manager

  1. When viewing installation job details in the Presentation Server
Console, the error message "Failed to retrieve the job details" appears
after five minutes if the log file exceeds 10 megabytes(MB). After applying
this hotfix, the user receives the first 5 MB of the log file plus the
  following warning:

WARNING: Could not read the complete log file. File is too large. For
the complete log file, please see:
  Server: Server Name
  File: C:\Program Files\Citrix\Installer\Logs\*log name*.log

  [From PSE400R02W2K3008][#127210]

  2. If the last server listed in an Installation Manager application
group is removed from a farm, the server group appears to be removed from
the console. If a server group is later created using the same name, it does
not appear on the console, even if no errors occur during the server group
  creation process.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3008][#132239]

  3. Installation Manager is unable to install Hotfix Rollup Pack 1 or
any other hotfix. Installation Manager reports an incorrect failure with the
error message "The requested control is not valid for this service."

  [From PSE400R02W2K3008][#134806]

  4. When a new application package is installed, and there are also
existing application packages, the environment variable is replaced instead
of appended. To fix this issue, you must set the following registry keys
  under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\IMS\2.0:

  Name: DisableUserPath
  Type: DWORD
  Data: 0

  Name: DisableSystemPath
  Type:DWORD
  Data:0

  Name: AppendUserPath
  Type: DWORD
  Data: 1

  Name:AppendSystemPath
  Type: DWORD
  Data: 1

If either DisableUserPath or DisableSystemPath is set to one, the
packager does not record changes to the user or system path. The installer
does not modify the user or system path.

If either AppendUserPath or AppendSystemPath is set to one, the
packager records only changes to the user or system path. Changes to the WFS
file causes the installer to append these changes to the user or system path
when the package is installed on the target system. If you uninstall the
package, the changes to the user and system path are removed from the
  computer.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3033][#146144]

  5. If an error occurs while Installation Manager is reading server
groups, no servers are listed for installation packages. With this fix,
errors reading server groups are ignored and servers that can be read are
listed. An Event Viewer log entry is created for the error.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#148853]

Installing, Uninstalling, Upgrading

  1. Some hotfixes for the Memory Optimization feature might not install
due to invalid file data created by the Citrix Virtual Memory Optimization
  Service (CtxSFOSvc.exe).

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#144989]

  2. A packaged script in PSE400W2K3R02 runs twice and resets the value
of registry key PSRequired to zero. This fix resets the value to one.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3012][#146884]

  3. If you install Service Pack 2005.04 and then change the product
version to "MetaFrame Presentation Server 4.0 for Windows," installing
Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 reverts the server version to "MetaFrame Presentation
Server 3.0 for Windows." As a result, the Application Isolation,
Virtual IP, CPU Optimization, and Virtual Memory Optimization features are
no longer functioning and are missing from the Presentation Server Console.
Setting the version back to 4.0 restores all previous functionality
  and settings.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3005][#147857]

  4. After installing Hotfix Rollup Pack 2, the option *Use Farm
Settings for ICA KeepAlive* is disabled.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#154464]

Keyboard

  1. On Spanish language versions of the Presentation Server Console,
using keyboard shortcuts to terminate a shadowing session fails.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#148020]

  2. Users of the Client for Java might experience incorrect keyboard
input. This happens when selecting the server default and the client and the
server use different input locales. To exclusively use Unicode Injection,
set following registry key: (Unicode Injection is a type of character input
that puts Unicode in the foreground application window.)

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal
  Server\Wds\icawd
  Name: UnicodeInjectionFlag
  Type: REG_DWORD
  Value: 0xFFFFFFFF

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#149966]

  3. After installing Hotfix Rollup Pack 2, the right Alternate or
Alternate Graphic (Alt Gr) key generates incorrect key values for Unix,
Java, and Macintosh clients in various languages.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3044][#150306]

Licensing

  1. When attempting to connect to a server, users may receive a warning
stating that the licensing grace period expired; connection attempts are
refused. The issue occurs if a server is restarted during the licensing
grace period and does not recognize the local copy of the license
information. The grace period sets in when there is no connectivity between
the server and the license server. During that time, the server uses a local
  copy of the license information.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3011][#134465]

  2. On occasion, servers with Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 installed cannot
contact the license server. The error message "MetaFrame Presentation Server
cannot contact the license server empty" is displayed. The following
messages appear in the Event Log:

EventID 9018, Source: MetaFrame, Descriptions: MetaFrame Presentation
Server cannot contact the license server Empty.
EventID 9016, Source: MetaFrame, Descriptions: Server is successfully
communicating w/ license server. Metaframe Presentation Server has left the
  grace period.
EventID 9019, Source: MetaFrame, Descriptions: MetaFrame Presentation
Server has successfully contacted the License Server.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3046][#149982]

Load Balancing

  1. When using the qfarm /load command on an English computer running
the English version of Citrix Presentation Server, and the Multi-Lingual
Language Pack (MUI) is installed, performance counters are unavailable and
  display a zero.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3016][#145371]

  2. New custom load evaluators are created with an existing schedule.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#153165]

  3. When using the qfarm /load command on a French computer running the
French version of Presentation Server with Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 installed,
the counter incorrectly displays a full load because the server cannot
access the performance counter "Écritures disque."

Applying this fix also adds the following trace message for all
  supported languages:

  Cdf_TraceMsg("LMSRuleDLL_Interface: _CreatePdhQueryHelper querying for
  counter: %ws", CounterPath);

  [From PSE400R02W2K3047][#153883]

Logon/Authentication

  1. If the Citrix SMA Service and the Citrix Print Manager Service
(ctx_smauser) accounts are removed, logon times may increase because
Presentation Server searches for these accounts in the entire domain until
those queries fail. With this fix, Presentation Server dynamically looks for
the account that is running the services.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#137057]

  2. Anonymous users cannot unlock password protected screen savers
invoked by Windows Group Policy settings. This happens because passwords for
anonymous users are generated randomly. This fix prevents screen savers from
  being invoked in anonymous sessions.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#140195]

  3. Anonymous users cannot unlock workstations locked by (other)
anonymous users. This happens because passwords for anonymous users are
generated randomly. This fix prevents anonymous users from locking
  workstations.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#141787]

  4. When users log on using pass-through authentication, and the
network connection has a low throughput, users sometimes experience a delay
when typing their credentials. This forces users to type their credentials
  twice.

To resolve this issue, change the following registry entry:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal
  Server\Wds\icawd
  Name: CredQueryTimeout
  Type: REG_DWORD
Data: *credential time-out in seconds *

The default time-out is 10 seconds.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3044][#146264]

  5. Reconnecting to a disconnected session using UPN formatted
  credentials (john.doe@xxxxxxxxxx) fails.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#149607]

  6. When users log on using Novell Directory Services (NDS), the IMA
  Service fails unexpectedly.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3034][#150772]

  7. If the XML broker for a server farm has Hotfix Rollup Pack
PSE400W2K3R02 installed, users who log on to the Web Interface using expired
NDS credentials cannot change the expired password and receive an error
  message.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3034][#151235]

  8. A thread contention causes clients to experience intermittent
delays of up to 60 seconds when attempting to connect to servers. To resolve
the issue, modify the following registry key to override the default value

Printing

  1. With print driver replication and the policy set up to retain
printer properties on the client device, printer properties are not
  correctly retained across servers.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#130105]

  2. Imported print shares that are not associated with any network
print server cannot be deleted from the Presentation Server Console. This
hotfix installs an updated version of the DSCHECK utility that addresses the
issue. After installing the hotfix, at the command line, type *
  dscheck.exe /full printers /purge_network_printers*.

  6. After installing Hotfix Rollup Pack 1, administrators can no longer
access printers belonging to another user's session. After applying this
fix, you must set the following registry key:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\print
  Name: DefaultPrnFlags
  Type: REG_DWORD
  Data: 0x4000

If a value for this key exists, add 0x4000 to the existing value. For
  example, a value of 0x20 becomes 0x4020.

going through a pass- through client published on Windows 2000 Server.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#139173]

  8. If a printer is renamed during an ICA session, and then the client
reconnects to a disconnected session, two printers are displayed in the

Session/Connection

  1. ICM pings are sent if network traffic is not detected. When a user
employs an application that makes constant screen updates, ICM pings are not
sent. In this instance, a broken network connection causes the session to
wait on the TCP time-out. When the TCP connection times out, the session
goes into a disconnected state. This change generates ICM pings on the
network connection at the configured rate that is independent of the data
  sent by the application.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#116986]

  2. Connecting and then disconnecting from a session quickly might
cause the session to not terminate properly and leave the
CSRSS.EXEprocess running. The issue occurs in part because of behavior
specific to
Presentation Server and in part due to the way Presentation Server interacts
with the operating system. This fix improves the behavior of Presentation
Server and reduces the number of such incidents.

  8. Published applications do not appear in the console.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#152972]

  9. ICA sessions connecting through the Access Gateway remain active
for extended periods of time when idle. This fix adds support for a registry
setting that allows the server to utilize ICM to detect disconnected
sessions. The time-out for the ICM ping response is determined by the ICA
KeepAlive setting in the Console. If a response has not been received before
the time-out, the session is disconnected. To enable this fix. set the
  following registry key:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Citrix\

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#144661]

  3. After disconnecting and then reconnecting to a session using a
smart card but a different reader, the session is no longer disconnected

Miscellaneous

  1. On non-English versions of Presentation Server, WMI cannot
subscribe to zone election events. The version of the Management Pack for
Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) that ships with Presentation Server
attempts to make such subscriptions, and when they fail, publishes error
  messages such as the following:

  ID 25402 from source MOM:

"The Microsoft Operations Manager WMI provider 'Citrix MetaFrame Zone
Master Election Events Subscription' could not register query "select * from
CitrixEvent where EventType = 0". Ensure that the WMI Query is valid.'
  Computer: ...."

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#109681]

  2. In an environment where Presentation Server is installed, users of
NFS client software cannot access Unix-based resources.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#138309]

  3. Published instances of Microsoft Internet Explorer do not support
  URLs longer than 1,024 characters.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#139152]

  4. If high latency exists between zone data collectors, dynamic store
information might take a long time to replicate zone information between
zone data collectors. This fix improves the synchronization efficiency of
  this information.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3003][#143478]

  5. After installing Hotfix PSE400R01W2K3064 or Hotfix Rollup Pack 2,
the value in the registry entry HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command is
  changed from "C:\Program Files\Citrix\system32\iexplore.exe" %1 to
  "C:\Program Files\Citrix\system32\iexplore.exe" "%1" causing some
applications to pass double quotes to Internet Explorer resulting in %20 to
  be placed in the URL.

  [From PSE400R02W2K3039][#150238]

  6. In Web Interface, applications experience distortion issues on wide
screen monitors that are not 4:3 multiple. The issue occurs on servers with
Fix #124293 installed, which modifies the default screen size from variable
to a fixed size of 320x240 to be compatible with RDP and local display
driver behavior. This fix reverts the default screen size to a variable size
and introduces support for a registry setting to enable the fixed 320x240
screen size to be compatible with RDP. To enable the fixed 320x240 screen
size, set the following registry key:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\currentcontrolset\control\terminal
  server\wds\icawd\thin16
  Name: ICAThinwireFlags
  Type: REG_DWORD
  Data: *

  * *Note*: The ICAThinwireFlags are bit flags (each bit represents a
different flag). The data value to enable the fixed screen size flag is
20000 (hex). You must merge this value with the current contents of the
registry. For example: If ICAThinwireFlags contains the value 63 (hex) set
  the value to 20063 (hex).

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#155945]

  7. When users open a Microsoft Word document from a distributed file
share, Microsoft Word might become unresponsive.

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#148091]

  8. After applying Hotfix Rollup Pack 2, menu animations are not
disabled by the policy Turn off Menu Animations. After applying this fix,
you must set the following registry key to enable default menu animation in
  an ICA session:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\
  Name: MenuAnimation
  Type: REG_DWORD
  Data: 1

  [From PSE400W2K3R03][#152708]

  9. In a high latency environment, the cursor might appear to move
across the screen at random within an ICA session.

  [From PSE400R01W2K3079][#138160]
