Symptoms
Upgrading MetaFrame XP FR3/SP3 to MetaFrame XP Service Pack 4 fails under the
following conditions:
§ Web Interface 2.0 was originally included as a component of MetaFrame XP FR3
§ Web Interface 2.0 was later upgraded to Web Interface 3.0
§ MetaFrame XP Service Pack 4 is installed after Web Interface 3.0
An error occurs near the end of the installation. The installer rolls back the
installation and reports ?Installation ended prematurely because of an error?:
In the event log, Event ID 1024 references error code 1603:
Cause
Upgrading to Web Interface 3.0 removed some files that were used by Web
Interface 2.0. The MetaFrame XP Service Pack 4 installer is attempting to
update non-existing Web Interface 2.0 files.
Resolution
1. Open the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
2. Select Citrix MetaFrame XP Server for Windows with Feature Release 3 and
click Change.
3. Select Modify and click Next.
4. Set the Web Interface component to ?Entire feature will be unavailable? as
shown below. Note that this action does not affect the installation of Web
Interface 3.0:
5. Click Next.
6. Click Finish.
7. Install Service Pack 4 for MetaFrame XP.
