Jason, This kind of thing happens more than you know! I have seen it in organizations as large as fortune 100 companies. We see this exact scenario at least once a month. -Linn -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of jason.weems@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 10:13 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Had to happen... Reminds me of a client (school) I did some work for a month ago. They had a computer shop (that didn't know much about Citrix) add an additional DC and put Citrix on it. The server had RDP enabled and I'm guessing in order to get into the server they had granted Domain Users the right to Log on Locally. So, basically since every student account was a domain user and all workstations had computer access, any student could download the RDP client and log directly into the Citrix server (which the RDP client would automatically find, since it was the only TS on the LAN). No policies were applied. -----Original Message----- From: linn [SMTP:linn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 10:03 AM To: thin Cc: linn Subject: [THIN] Re: Had to happen... I deal with this a lot because I am a consultant. The only way to do it is stand your ground! Do not support a server that you did not help build or that was not built by someone with extensive citrix/terminal services knowledge. -Linn -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of jason.weems@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 9:20 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Had to happen... My sentiments exactly. -----Original Message----- From: brian.hill [SMTP:brian.hill@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 9:12 AM To: thin Cc: brian.hill Subject: [THIN] Re: Had to happen... Personally, I'd say stand your ground and refuse to support it since they didn't let you help build it. If you're going to support it anyway, then why did you ask to help build it in the first place. Since they "insisted" on doing it themselves, let them. Don't be a chump. Brian -----Original Message----- From: Schneider, Chad M. We told them we would help, but they insisted on doing it themselves, now, I am getting the calls. "why doesn't this work", "Why does this happen", "what is different on these two servers"? I am now trying to backtrack what they had done, when I told them I would build the boxes for them and make it the same as ours, from a configuration standpoint. But, NO! Anyway, newest server does not auto-create printers properly. At this time, I connect to 65 and all 3 of my printers are fine. I connect to 47 and I only get one printer. I have verified that the client configuration settings match. I also noticed the 47 did not have the UPD, so I replicated it. Major trouble appears to be with 47, as the others appear all but fine.
