flex profiles are enterprise strength so long as you understand your
applications well. they are fast and reliable and enable siloing.
the only drawback I have encountered is their inability to transport
permissions.
the downside to the alternatives is that they generally require a relatively
heavy infratructure to achieve the same goal.
