Hi Sean, You are a champion in many ways. One of my customers is also getting these events on their Windows 2000 Citrix servers, and it's been driving my nuts researching what has caused it. I am convinced that it was a hotfix such as the MS06-040 and MS06-042 security updates. These patches have received quite a bad rap on other forums. The problem is that I'm not sure if it's the Citrix servers or their Windows 2003 file server that is causing the issue. They have already applied the patch you mentioned to their file servers. Unfortuntely they tend to just apply patches without testing first. So these security updates have been applied to all Citrix servers. They are also having other issues where users sometimes don't get their drive mappings and/or group policies don't apply. When that happens the following messages appear in the event logs. Event ID: 1000 First event: 08/14/2006 13:37:34 Last event: 08/14/2006 13:37:34 Source: Userenv Type: Error User: McgowanP Log: Application Computer: TSP05 Description: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects . A message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by this policy engine. Event ID: 1000 First event: 08/14/2006 13:37:34 Last event: 08/14/2006 13:37:34 Source: Userenv Type: Error User: McgowanP Log: Application Computer: TSP05 Description: Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO The file must be present at the location <>. (). Group Policy processing aborted. I haven't found a DC that is missing the gp object. But I've got logging enabled in every which way to try and get to the bottom of this. Keep in touch on or off list. I am seriously considering getting Microsoft involved next week. Cheers. The errors occur on three of the four servers (Win2000, XPa) for one specific application. The applicatgion is published to all server though. Some background: a new file Windows Storage Server (64 bit) with latest patches was introduced. File migration from the old (Win 2000) file server initally seemed good, but then I found that users were reporting errors for this one specific application. The symptoms are described here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890352 Obviously I can't apply the hotfix mentioned in the article to the Citrix servers as they are Win2000. The Citrix server that doesn't have the issue *doesn't* have a mapped drive to the working directory (J:) of the application (an oversight on my part when I remapped drives to the new file server). Also worth noting is that users login scripts map to the application folder (J:) I've moved all the users of this app over to the server the "good" server. I'm now considering the idea of disconnecting the J drives on the other Citrix servers. However the above KB article states that "Note This problem does not occur when the program writes to a volume that is connected by using a drive letter mapping." which is the reverse of the situation I have! Any pointers much appreciated. - SeÃn Carr ___________________________________________________________ Try the all-new Yahoo! Mail.
