You've put 4.0 thorugh a test environment right? Option 1: Won't work. PS4 has a different DS schema than older versions Options 2: Once your install a PS4 server into an existing farm the DS is automatically upgraded (whether the PS4 is the DS server or not in regards to access/MSDE). The only way back is to restore the DS from before the installation. Option 3: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Good luck with that one. Test test test test test environment!!!!
